Jewelry

New York-based sculptor Jane D’Arensbourg’s glass jewelry is incredibly delicate, yet bold and vibrant. I have a nasty track record with glass jewelry, but something tells me if I owned one of these pieces I’d make sure take extra special care. That, and each necklace, ring and earring is sculpted out of Pyrex, the glass used to make laboratory beakers.

Esser Vesper Jewelry

by Tina on June 8, 2010

You may remember my previous feature on Laurel Hill Jewelry. Now, Laurel Hill is Esser Vesper.

magnet04

“ESSERvesper is hand cast out of bronze and sterling utilizing the lost wax technique. The pieces are intended to be worn daily and age through wear, thus increasing meaning and attachment. The line is sculptural, seasonless, and wears to the wearer.”

No piece is exact. Like works of art, every flaw, shine or glimmer, is testament to the piece’s original character.”

I’m obsessed with these bronze stacked rings, and the way the lovely Una Portland (their only current stock list) mixes them up online.

Erin Considine Jewelry: Wear Your Fiber

by Tina on June 2, 2010

Erin Considine Jewelry is my newest hand dyed obsession, aside from Shabd of course. Based out of her Brooklyn New York Apt (her kitchen to be exact), all or Erin’s jewelry is hand-made using all natural dyes and fibers and reclaimed materials.  Favorites are her ‘Asiode’ necklace made of hand dyed cotton with logwood, turmeric, onion skin+hibiscus copper+brass, and the hand dyed ‘Tower’ bracelets and fun bolos. Yes, bolos. Hee Haw!

Color Combo: Anntian Jewelry S/S 2010

by Tina on April 26, 2010

anntian2

Berlin-based clothing label Anntian collaborated with jewelry designer Arielle de Pinto on a collection of necklaces and bracelets a while back, and until now I thought that was their only venture into jewelry design. Wrong! Anntian designed a large and colorful collection of jewelry for their S/S ’10 collection entitled ‘PHASE’.  The jewelry is just as bright as the clothing. Some of the necklaces look like giant pieces of candy — Don’t you want to bite into them?!

They did another small Arielle de Pinto collaboration this season as well. Visit Anntian online for more info.

Bars + Beads + Brass: Etten Eller FW 2010

April 5, 2010

As many of you may know, I’m crazy over Etten Eller’s incredibly delicate jewelry collection. Designer Tini Bloom just sent over a sneak peek of her newest Fall/Winter 2010 collection which utilizes reclaimed brass bars dangling delicately from fine gold chains, as well as casted brass snake vertebrate featured in a surprising elegant way. So [...]

Jewelry Bite: Tina Frey

February 22, 2010

Google Tina Frey and you’ll be asked if you meant “Tina Fey”. But if you keep searching you’ll find designer Tina Frey’s gorgeous hand-sculpted resin jewelry, vases, and other great pieces, not the 30 Rock star. I quickly fell in love with one of her Macy bubble necklaces but was just as impressed with her [...]

SAMMA, Will you be my Valentine?

February 1, 2010

Please file this under: how in the heck did I not post about this sooner?! I did a little mailbox cleaning today and found an email from the lovely Hanna Sandin of SAMMA. She attached her spring ’10 lookbook and a cute video short produced by her friend John Sebastian Vitale. Samma_2010.264 300 I’m a [...]
