As many of you may know, I’m crazy over Etten Eller’s incredibly delicate jewelry collection. Designer Tini Bloom just sent over a sneak peek of her newest Fall/Winter 2010 collection which utilizes reclaimed brass bars dangling delicately from fine gold chains, as well as casted brass snake vertebrate featured in a surprising elegant way. So refined…I’ll never think of snake vertebrate the same again! Here are my favorites, available for purchase in the fall:

Nostalgia is a connecting thread between all of Etten Eller’s jewelry collections. That along with delicacy and sheer gorgeousness. I’m absolutely in love with Spring 2010 entitled “Hammer”. With a play on the industrial nature of nails and the heavy use of delicate brass ‘pearls,’ it’s safe to say that this collection is by far my favorite. And the competition was steep.

Each piece pays homage to the past with a defining date stamp from a monumental moment in history (from the date Joan of Arc was captured, to the most recent date when the designer herself cut her arm making a bracelet and got 9 stitches). The designer also nods to history with the use of ancestral collars and Victorian ornamentation.

I love the range withing the collection: styles vary from one ‘pearl’ balancing on a delicate gold chain, all the way to a collar made with handfuls of tiny ‘hammers’. It’s truly amazing what this Brooklyn based designer can do with a hammer and a pearl!

Along with this Spring 2010 collection, Etten Eller has also revealed a new Website (www.etteneller.com) where you can view past collections and more.

We proclaimed our love for Etten Eller–now we’re fixated on their newest collection which is slightly more involved than the last and focuses more on layers and form. The best part: they’ve taken their trademark gears and introduced them as earrings!! And each piece can be purchased with an extension allowing for varying lengths. Short, long, or you can simply wear the extension on its own.

Etten Eller makes incredibly delicate, timeless jewelry. Ironically, many of their pieces are composed of antique pocket watch parts not obvious at first glance. According to the designer “appreciators of Etten Eller are investigators, sentimentalists in search of the quiet mysteries of the past.” They cleverly blend these old relics of the past with reference to contemporary aesthetics. Materials include: gold-Filled chain, vermeil toggles and clasps, oxidized sterling silver and 14k connectors. Bird has the biggest selection of Etten Eller online, with their watch part chains being a Style Bite favorite.
