Spring ’08 will be Starr Mccaleb’s second season. With a background at NYU and Parsons, Mccaleb jumped right into the world of design and started her eponymous line. The eponymous collection is comprised of feminine, functional and classic shapes designed to transition easily from day into night. Stock lists are scarce for now, but one of my favorites, I Heart, has picked up the line.
Humanoid was founded in the Netherlands in 1981 and has since been gaining praise consistently over the past 26 years. The collection amazes me for a number of reasons; the artistic collaboration behind the line, the sense of community it evokes, the use of fabric, the draping, the shape, the comfort and ease. I’m a pretty casual girl and believe wholeheartedly that one can simultaneosly be casual and progressive. In celebration of their landmark 26 year milestone, Humanoid, along with editor Giene Steenman put together a coffee table book. I got my hands(briefly I may add) on a copy, but I couldn’t keep it, it wasn’t mine. From what I could gather, the book is just as amazing as the collection. Does anyone know if the book is officially out yet, and if so, where one can find a copy?

I discovered look boutique a while back while searching around for stores that stock Heimstone. They don’t appear to offer Heimstone just yet, but they house a great selection of other designers, as well as a good amount of books, magazines and art. Look is the spawn of the Silverman Gallery and designed around the artistic vision of the gallery, creating a pretty thought provoking shopping experience.
