I’ve written about Heimstone in the past, along with a few other fashion bloggers, simply because they are an amazing new designer deserving of much praise. In honor of their spring ’08 collection which hits stores literally any day now, here is a video look book they made a few months back. If every designer made a video like this each season, the world would be a better place.
Erie Basin is a jewelry boutique out of brooklyn. They stock a mix of contemporary and antique jewlery, with a focus on 19th and 20th century objects. Basin’s owner, Russell Whitmore, takes a curatorial approach to antique dealing and only features items with contemporary stylistic and cultural relevance. This past fall they stocked: Giles and Brothers, Natalia Brilli and Mary Preston, to name just a few. I can’t keep my eyes off this ring by Paul Deplassie IV.

Nearly everyone is joining the blogosphere nowadays, which is great, because celebrities and designers have given us another reason to obsess over them. There is nothing better than loving a designer, or in this case, a design duo so much that you not only follow their collections, but get to follow their “behind the scenes” life as well. Mark Eley and Makako Kishimoto of Eley Kishimoto have a blog. They write about their own collection, as well as their newest expedition as designers for the french label Cacharel.

‘Concept’ and ‘Pop-Up’ Stores seems to be poping up all around lately. I am very intrigued by the idea of a constantly rotating storefront; what’s better than a here today, gone tomorrow boutique sprouting up every two months? Well, Los Angeles has joined the ranks; New High (M)art is a new concept store in Los Angeles’ Chinatown. Their first concept was a Brian Lichtenberg Pop-Up Store and they’re now featuring a Grey Ant Pop-Up Store through the end of January.

FIT alum, Neal Splerling designs extremely well made and comfortable classics with an edge. I would put his collection along the same line as Humanoid, with out the 26 year history and Dutch heritage. He added a few more tailored looks this season to categorize himself a little outside the generic “tee-shirt line” moniker. The sneak peeks are exciting around this time a year, because spring starts arriving in store any day now, and fall is on sale! These looks can be yours, oh so soon.
