New York based boutique Project No. 8 has been listed in the shopping guide for months, but the entire time I’ve been waiting for them to officially add a e-commerce. They’ve finally launched a shopping cart and added new arrivals, and overall I love the simplicity. Navigation-wise I see a few bumps, but they might be part of their overall concept. For now, they have select styles up from Maison Martin Margiela, Tom Scott, Natalia Brilli and Bless…but I’m anxiously waiting the addition of the other designers on their roster.
The Pros: Great images. Each style has up to 7 images, and I love the concept. Lengthy descriptions. Each style has a long paragraph description which is key when shopping online. Even though the selection is slim I love it all.
The Cons: The browse section is tricky and hard to use. The only way to surf around is to click on the “Index” page which is a little hard to understand and there aren’t many designers up yet, but I’m sure that will change. To check out new arrivals, click on the “NEW!!” link listed under “N”. But like I mentioned earlier, I believe the navigation layout is intentional…and in a way I like it, it makes finding that perfect dress or coat even better! And honestly I’m just so happy they have a shopping cart and I can shop online. I love this boutique.
Along with online shopping…they’ve just opened a mini shop within New York’s ACE hotel (22 W. 29th St.
(212) 725-0008) which I’m dying to check out.
