You probably know Hidden Spectrum by its more scientific definition, as “a serious of colors invisible to the naked eye, produced by the dispersion of radiant energy, other than ordinary light rays.” And now you can associate both fashion & art with the term because designer Amy Sky loved it so much she named her clothing atelier after it.
Introduced in 2008, Hidden Spectrum is a clothing label produced in small, edited runs in Vancouver Canada. Amy sky produces two seasons a year, and entertains collaborations, installations, sounds, video, photographs, drawings, costumes and events.
Spring ’10 entitled “Gesture” is my favorite collection to date (I know it’s a new project so there aren’t many seasons to compare but still). Full of unpredictable shapes and some clever detailing — I can see myself in each piece this coming spring, particularly the sheer, seamed, boxy blue top, and the zip back jumper.
